Method
Prepare the Potatoes
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Using a mandoline slicer, thinly slice the potatoes and set aside.
Make the Cream Sauce
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, whole milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir until heated through.
- Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
Assemble and Bake
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish. Pour half of the cream sauce over the potatoes.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cream sauce. Top with additional cheddar cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
