Prepare the Onions
- Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings.
Make the Batter
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Gradually add buttermilk to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.
Heat the Oil
- In a deep fryer, heat vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).
Coat the Onion Rings
- Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off.
Fry the Onion Rings
- Carefully place the battered onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove with tongs and drain on paper towels.
Serve
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
