Ingredients
  

Pasta
  • 12 oz spaghetti or any pasta of choice
Sauce
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp sugar to balance acidity
Garnish
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated

Method
 

Cook the Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. Drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.
Prepare the Sauce
  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine and Serve
  1. Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
  2. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil and grated parmesan cheese.
