I’m Elijah Stoll, the home cook and writer behind this blog. I started sharing recipes online in 2014, though my interest in cooking began much earlier in my mother’s kitchen in Dayton, Ohio.
After studying journalism in college, I worked for a local newspaper covering community events and local businesses. Food was always my true passion, though, and I found myself spending evenings testing recipes and photographing the results with an old DSLR camera I’d purchased secondhand.
When the newspaper downsized, I decided to pursue food blogging full-time. The early years were challenging—learning food photography, recipe development, and website management all at once required a steep learning curve. But gradually, I built a collection of reliable recipes that resonated with readers looking for approachable weeknight meals.
My cooking style is straightforward and practical. I develop recipes with busy households in mind, focusing on dishes that don’t require specialty ingredients or complicated techniques. Most recipes on this site can be prepared easily, and I always include suggestions for substitutions and variations.
I live in Cincinnati now with my partner Isabelle and our extremely food-motivated golden retriever, Maple. When I’m not in the kitchen, I enjoy hiking, reading mystery novels, and visiting local farmers markets.
Thank you for stopping by. I hope you find something here that makes your time in the kitchen a little more enjoyable.
